The Public Service Commission (PSC) has published the notice for the 51st BCS (Special) Examination 2026. Applications are invited to fill a total of 5,000 vacant posts in the BCS (Health) cadre: 4,700 assistant surgeons and 300 assistant dental surgeons.
The notice, signed on Wednesday by controller of examinations (cadre) Masuma Afrin, says candidates must be aged 21 to 32 as of September 1. Applications must be submitted between October 1 and October 25, and the fee can be paid until 6pm on October 28. The examination fee, including the service charge, is 205 taka.
A two-hour, 200-mark written test in MCQ format will be held in November, followed by a 100-mark viva.
The written test will cover seven subjects. Candidates will get one mark for each correct answer to the 200 questions, but 0.50 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The pass mark for the written test will be set by the commission. The notice says a candidacy will be cancelled if the registration number is not written correctly on the answer sheet, if the circles are not filled in properly, or if there is any overwriting. The written test will mainly be held at the Dhaka centre, though it may be held at other centres outside Dhaka depending on the number of candidates and the circumstances, at the commission’s discretion.
