Trading closed higher Wednesday on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s main bourse, with turnover also rising.
A total of 255,526,268 shares and mutual fund units in 388 companies changed hands on the DSE on Wednesday. Total turnover stood at 7,310,739,474 taka. Among the companies traded, 239 saw their share prices rise, 92 fell, and 57 remained unchanged.
The DSE’s main index, the DSEX, closed the day up 23.11 points from the previous trading session, at 5,660.41 points. The DSE-30 index rose 3.45 points to 2,125.49, and the DSE Shariah index rose 4.70 points to 1,135.12.
The 10 most-traded companies were Mercantile Bank, Saiham Cotton, AINNINC, Saiham Knitting, Shinepukur Ceramics, Far East Knitting and Dyeing, Acme Laboratories, RAK Ceramics, Beximco Pharmaceuticals and Prime Bank.
The top 10 gainers were AINF First Economic Mutual Fund, Saiham Cotton, Mercantile Bank, National Life Insurance, Saiham Knitting, Sandhani Life Insurance, Eastern Bank, First Prime Mutual Fund, NFS and Prime Islami Insurance.
The top 10 decliners were First Finance, Apex Spinning, Bawfika Foods, Delta Life, Shariah Life, First Bangladesh Mutual Fund, CVO Petrochemical, Aramit Cement, Shinepukur Ceramics and Far East Knitting and Dyeing.
