Iran has executed three men convicted of attacking state facilities during anti-government protests in January and of working for Israel and the United States.

Iran’s Fars News Agency named the executed men as Hassan Diyoband, Hamid Kazemi and Reza Zangeneh.

Iran’s judiciary alleged that the three carried out attacks with firearms, grenades and petrol bombs. It said they set fire to several state facilities and damaged a power substation in the city of Karaj, cutting electricity to parts of the city.

Iran has carried out a series of executions in recent months linked to the January protests. Those executed have also been accused of ties to Israel and the United States.

The executions have drawn international concern. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk called on the Iranian authorities to halt all executions and to move towards abolishing the death penalty.
