Former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau has taken up a new post at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. He has joined the university’s Blavatnik School of Government as a distinguished fellow and a member of its World Leaders Circle, the school confirmed in a press release on Friday.
The post makes Trudeau part of an international group of former world leaders that already includes former New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern and former British prime minister Rishi Sunak. Trudeau stepped down in 2025 after 10 years as Canada’s prime minister, from 2015.
Trudeau, 54, said he would try to help students learn from his 10 years of experience. He said world politics and technology had changed enormously during his time in office, reshaping much of today’s world.
Ngaire Woods, dean of the Blavatnik School, said the chance to learn directly from former world leaders would help the school’s students become future statesmen.
Trudeau has stayed active in international politics and public life since leaving office. He is expected to visit Oxford later this month. After leaving politics, he also recently moved into entertainment, launching a film and television production company, Hope and Hard Work, with his former aide Katie Telford.
