Two sixth-grade pupils in Raipur, Lakshmipur, have gone missing on their way to school and madrasa. There has been no trace of them in the four days since they left home on Sunday morning, and both families are deeply worried.
The two missing pupils are Arafat Sayem, 14, the only son of the businessman Zakir Hossain and the homemaker Amena Begum of the Yakub Ali Haji house in ward 6 of Keroa union, and Md Ikramul Hasan Minhaz, 14, the only son of the expatriate worker Emran Hossain and the homemaker Fahima Akter of the Gazinagar area of Charpata union.
Arafat Sayem is a sixth-grade pupil at Raipur L M Pilot High School, and Ikramul Hasan Minhaz a sixth-grade student at Raipur Alia Kamil Madrasa.
The families said Sayem and Minhaz left home for their schools on Sunday morning and did not return. Family members searched relatives’ homes and other places without finding them.
On Monday night the two families filed separate general diaries at Raipur police station. Relatives have also posted appeals for help on social media.
Sayem’s father, Zakir Hossain, and Minhaz’s father, Emran Hossain, said: “They left home for school on Sunday morning and did not come back. We have searched with relatives and in many places, but we have not found them anywhere. We ask everyone for help to get our children back.”
Raipur police officer-in-charge Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan said: “We have received separate general diaries about the disappearance of two pupils named Sayem and Minhaz. The matter is being investigated seriously, and police are trying to find them.”
