An 11-year-old madrasa student has been killed after a truck hit an auto-rickshaw in Aditmari, Lalmonirhat. Four passengers of the auto-rickshaw were seriously injured. The accident happened around 8:30am on Saturday in the Khatapara Mazar area of Saptibari union in the upazila.
The boy lived in Bhadai union of the upazila.
According to police and local sources, an auto-rickshaw was on its way in the morning when, at the Khatapara Mazar area, a truck heading for Burimari rammed it hard. The auto-rickshaw was crushed and the boy died on the spot. Local people rescued the injured and admitted them to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital.
The injured are a 16-year-old girl, Monoranjan, 90, and Bulu Mia, 26, of Sadar upazila, and Priyanka Rani, 28, of Aditmari upazila.
Najmus Sakib, officer-in-charge of Aditmari Police Station, said police were sent to the scene as soon as the accident was reported and the truck was seized. Necessary legal action is being taken.
