Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large quantity of drugs and smuggled goods worth roughly 6.75 million taka in a special operation at the Chuadanga border.
Patrol teams from the Dorshona, Bajitpur, Munshipur and ICP border outposts under Chuadanga Battalion (6 BGB) carried out separate operations in various border areas on Aug. 29 to seize the goods.
According to BGB sources, the operation recovered 50 bottles of Indian cough syrup, three bottles of Indian liquor, 30 grams of Indian heroin, 10,440 Indian cyproheptadine tablets and 10,800 Indian dexamethasone tablets.
Also seized were 34 pieces of various Indian cosmetics, 25 pieces of Indian chocolate, an Indian blanket and a motorcycle.
BGB said the seized illegal goods carry an estimated value of 6,753,000 taka.
The information was released in a press statement sent by BGB on Thursday afternoon.
Lt Col Nazmul Hasan, commanding officer of Chuadanga-6 BGB, said the force remains constantly alert and active in ensuring border security and preventing drug trafficking and smuggling.
He said intelligence surveillance, regular patrols and special operations to prevent all forms of illegal activity in border areas would be further strengthened going forward.
BGB said its personnel continue to work with professionalism and responsibility to prevent drugs, smuggling and other illegal activities along the border.
