Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned that in any region where Tehran cannot sell oil, no other country will be allowed to sell oil there either.
Ghalibaf issued the warning in a post on the social media platform X on Friday. It came after US Central Command (Centcom) commander Admiral Brad Cooper claimed that American forces had established full control over the Strait of Hormuz and had halted Iran’s oil exports.
“The equation of this war is clear: either everyone, or no one,” Ghalibaf said. “In any region where we cannot sell oil, no one else will be able to sell oil there either.”
Ghalibaf also commented on security in the Strait of Hormuz. He said the key condition for ensuring the security of the strategically important waterway is the absence of what he called “terrorist American forces” there.
“If our security is not guaranteed, no infrastructure will be safe,” he said. “The security of the Strait of Hormuz depends on the absence of American forces.”
Ghalibaf added: “We have said many times that the situation that existed in the Strait of Hormuz before the war will not return.”
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy transit routes, carrying roughly one-fifth of global oil demand.
