A fake notice claiming that MPO-listed teachers and staff have been brought under the ninth national pay scale has been circulating through various channels. Education ministry officials say the notice is fake.
The notice, which spread on Facebook on Thursday, said the new pay scale had taken effect for MPO-listed teachers and staff. Many teachers and staff shared it on Facebook believing it to be genuine. Officials at the education ministry said, however, that the ministry has issued no such notice. The gazette of the ninth national pay scale for government officers and employees was issued on September 17, and government teachers benefit directly from it. A separate notice for MPO-listed teachers and staff and for university teachers was expected to be published soon, but the education ministry has not yet issued it.
