The application period for transfers of MPO-listed teachers at non-government institutions closed yesterday, September 13. An important meeting is expected to be held soon on the entire process, including the next steps for transfers, a likely timeline for releasing results, and an opportunity to correct errors in submitted applications.
Sources say the meeting, to be chaired by the DSHE director general, may discuss the overall matter of teacher transfers.
The meeting may also discuss whether teacher demand figures will be reduced for any institution found to have inaccurately listed its requirements in transfer applications. It may also decide whether an edit option will be introduced to allow those who have already applied to correct any errors in their applications.
The meeting may also address what happens if a teacher, after receiving a transfer order, becomes unwilling to join the new posting once they learn more details about it. In other words, discussion may cover whether joining the new institution will be mandatory once a transfer order is issued, or whether teachers will have the option to decline a transfer under specific conditions.
Sources say the meeting is likely to cover almost every stage of the transfer process — not just releasing results, but application verification, error correction, institution-based teacher demand, transfer orders, and joining after the order is issued.
A notice on the transfer of MPO-listed teachers at non-government schools and colleges was published on August 18. The notice said all MPO-listed teachers working at non-government educational institutions (schools and colleges) — including heads of institutions, assistant heads, demonstrators and trade instructors — would be transferred according to the “MPO-listed Teachers Transfer Policy 2026 (Amended).” The transfer process is being carried out through software developed with technical support from Teletalk Bangladesh Limited.
Under the policy, teachers interested in a transfer could apply online from August 21 to 27 using a user ID and password sent to their mobile phones. The application period was later extended, with the transfer application date subsequently set for September 12 and 13.
An applicant can apply for a transfer to up to three institutions, in order of preference. Applications will be verified automatically through software in accordance with the transfer policy. Once verification is complete, the authorities will issue posting orders based on the transfers.
For transfers, teachers can apply within their own district as listed in their job application. If no vacant post exists in their own district, they can apply for a transfer against any vacant post within any district of their own division. There is also scope to apply for a transfer to a spouse’s home district or their workplace district, provided the spouse works at a government, semi-government, autonomous, or MPO-listed educational institution. If information related to this submitted by an institution through the transfer software is found to be incorrect, the relevant head of institution and the applicant teacher will be held personally responsible.
Under the policy, a teacher becomes eligible to apply for a transfer after completing two years since first joining the job. After joining a new posting following a transfer, a teacher must serve a minimum of two years there before applying for another transfer.
Meanwhile, with the application process under way, many teachers are reviewing the information they enter before submitting their forms. Some have noticed incorrect information after submitting their applications. Since there is no option to make corrections in such cases, the authorities have advised applicants to carefully verify every detail before finalising their applications.
