Iran has no wish to hold talks with the United States on the nuclear issue, Ali Nikzad, deputy speaker of Iran’s parliament, has said. The Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera reported this on Sunday (1 November).

Speaking at a session of parliament, Nikzad said Iran’s “extraordinary patience” and the “tremendous strength and iron will” of its armed forces had brought the United States and its allies “face to face with the hard wall of reality”.

“They must accept that they have no option but to acknowledge Iran’s power. In this confrontation it is the Americans who will finally back down, not the Iranian nation,” he said.

Tehran has no intention of negotiating on the nuclear issue, whatever the pressure, the deputy speaker said. In his view, the United States has nothing new to offer.

“This great nation gave its enemies ample opportunity for talks, but in return received only repeated broken promises and illegal bombing of its peaceful nuclear facilities,” Nikzad said.
