Eighteen trained young entrepreneurs in Chaugachha upazila of Jashore received loans totalling Tk 18,50,000 on Sunday (1 November) as the upazila marked National Youth Day 2026 with a rally, a discussion and the handover of loan cheques.
The upazila administration and the Department of Youth Development held the programme in the upazila parishad hall at midday. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farzana Islam presided.
Dr Mosle Uddin Farid, member of parliament for Jashore-2 (Chaugachha-Jhikargachha), was the chief guest. He said young people must gain the skills they need, and that technology-based knowledge and experience are now largely within reach. If young people build their skills through training, technical knowledge and hands-on experience, he said, they can find work or start businesses at home without depending on going abroad, and help end unemployment and develop the economy.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) GMA Munib, Upazila Youth Development Officer KM Ziaullah, upazila Jamaat-e-Islami amir Maulana Golam Morshed and assistant secretary Master Kamal Ahmed Biswas spoke as special guests.
Others who spoke included upazila project implementation officer Shamsunnahar, women affairs officer Gulshan-e-Jahan, public health engineer Ferdous Ara Begum, assistant youth development officer Golam Morshed, youth development assistant Arafat Rahman, Chaugachha Press Club sports secretary MA Mannan, and entrepreneurs Shahinur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan, Sumaiya Akter and Mostafizur Rahman.
Youth Development Officer KM Ziaullah said training and loans are given to help young people become self-employed and set up businesses. In that line, 18 young entrepreneurs who finished training this time received Tk 18,50,000 in all, he said. The money will go into nakshi kantha embroidery, dairy farming, fish farming, cattle and goat fattening and other income-generating work.
