An initiative has been taken to preserve the various awards and honors earned over the career of the late Bulbul Ahmed, a legendary actor of Bengali cinema known as “Mohanayak.” To mark his birthday, his family has handed over these awards and honors to the Bangladesh Film Archive.
On Wednesday, Bulbul Ahmed’s wife, Daisy Ahmed, and daughter, Tilottama, handed over the various awards and honors he earned during his career to Bangladesh Film Archive Director General M. Javed Iqbal. Bulbul Ahmed’s birthday falls Friday, Sept. 4.
As a tribute to Bulbul Ahmed’s outstanding contributions to the country’s film and culture, the family took this initiative to preserve his awards and honors as a national asset for future generations.
Every year on Sept. 4, Bulbul Ahmed’s birthday is marked with various events organized by his family and admirers. Although it was not possible to organize any special event this year, the family has donated the achievements of his long artistic career to the Bangladesh Film Archive museum for future preservation. The family decided to make the day memorable by giving film lovers the opportunity to view these items and by preserving his memory.
Bulbul Ahmed was not only a popular actor but also an inseparable part of the history and heritage of Bengali cinema. With his awards and honors preserved at the Bangladesh Film Archive, his work and legacy will live on for future generations as part of the country’s cultural heritage.
