Singers Balam and Konal are coming to listeners with a new song. The popular duo have sung ‘Nirghum Raat Jane’ (The Sleepless Night Knows). The lyrics are by Asif Iqbal, and the music was composed and directed by Shawkat Ali Emon. The song was recorded at Velocity Studio in Moghbazar, Dhaka.

Speaking about the lyrics, lyricist Asif Iqbal said the greatest proof of love is not always in what is said aloud; the feeling also shows in experiences such as sleepless nights or being unable to concentrate on work. Emotions can be hidden from others but not from oneself, and that realisation is what ‘Nirghum Raat Jane’ is about.

Composer and music director Shawkat Ali Emon said: “Balam and Konal have given us several wonderful songs together in films. They have sung brilliantly on the new song too. I hope listeners will enjoy it.”

The Balam-Konal pairing first drew attention with the song ‘O Priyotoma’ from the Shakib Khan film ‘Priyotoma’. They later sang the title song of the film ‘Rajkumar’, and the duo also has a song in the film ‘Hannan’. Besides film songs, Balam and Konal worked together on television some time ago, singing the opening song of the Eid magazine programme ‘Eidin Shei Din Eid Anondo’, written by Rabiul Islam Jibon and composed and directed by Balam.

On singing the new song, Konal said: “This is the kind of song audiences want to hear right now. It captures a feeling of love that shows in people’s behaviour even when it is not spoken. Like our earlier songs, I hope listeners will enjoy this new one I have sung with Balam bhai.”

Besides the new song, Konal is also busy singing for TV dramas, while Balam is working on several songs.
