The Detective Branch (DB) of police has sought a fresh seven-day remand for member of parliament Gazi Nazrul Islam.
The application will be heard at the court of Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Md Ripon Hossain, according to SI Rafiqul Islam of the prosecution department.
Gazi Nazrul has already been brought to the court lock-up and will be produced in the courtroom during the hearing, said SI Morshed Alam, officer in charge of the lock-up.
On Sunday night, the body of Mariam, the second wife of MP Gazi Nazrul Islam, was recovered from flat 203 on the third floor of Building 5 at NAM Bhaban, under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station in the capital. Police recovered the body after being informed, and took Nazrul and his first wife, who were at the flat, to the police station. Mariam’s father was also present at the time. After he filed a case, the court sent Gazi Nazrul Islam on four days’ remand and his first wife, Maksuda Begum, on one day’s remand.
