Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered Indian drugs worth 1,874,300 taka in three separate anti-narcotics drives on the Kushtia border.
The Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) gave the details in a press release on Thursday (September 24).
Acting on specific intelligence, BGB raided the Shukuntala field area of Thotarpara border outpost at around midnight, the release said. Two bottles of Indian Fairdeal syrup and 2,100 dexamethasone tablets were found unclaimed, with an estimated value of 630,800 taka.
At about 1:45am, a raid on the West Bilgathua field of Bilgathua border outpost recovered nine bottles of Indian liquor, 950 dexamethasone tablets and 1,900 cyproheptadine tablets, with an estimated value of 868,500 taka.
At about 6am, a raid in the Degreechar area under Udaynagar border outpost recovered another 18 bottles of Indian liquor, 50 dexamethasone tablets and 1,110 cyproheptadine tablets, with an estimated value of 375,000 taka.
Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony of the Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) said regular intelligence-led drives and patrols are being carried out to prevent drug smuggling in border areas. Such operations will continue to protect the border, prevent drug smuggling and keep people in border areas safe, he said.
