Medical supplies that had been in use for a long time at the Dumki upazila health complex in Patuakhali, and had become unfit for use, have been declared unserviceable by a condemnation board and destroyed.
On Wednesday morning (September 23) the condemnation board reviewed the items in the grounds of the upazila health complex, declared them unserviceable, and they were burned in the presence of committee members.
The items destroyed included bed sheets, mosquito nets, blankets, pillows, mattresses, curtains and vaccine carriers used in the EPI programme.
The work was carried out with the permission of the Patuakhali civil surgeon.
Those present included the upazila nirbahi officer, Abdullah Khairul Islam Chowdhury; the upazila health and family planning officer (THA), Dr Mir Shahidul Hasan Shahin; and the resident medical officer (RMO), Dr G M Enamul Haque, along with other officials and staff.
The upazila health officer, Dr Mir Shahidul Hasan Shahin, said the condemnation was carried out under the rules as part of removing items that had become unfit for use.
