Police have arrested Akmal Hossain, former chairman of Sadar union in Ullapara upazila, Sirajganj, and an Awami League leader.
He was arrested on Thursday morning (September 24) in Bakhua village of Sadar union in the upazila.
Ullapara Model police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Mehedi Hasan confirmed the arrest.
Police said Akmal was arrested in an explosives case and was sent to court in Sirajganj after his arrest.
