Gold prices in the domestic market have fallen again, by as much as 4,474 taka per bhori. The new gold prices took effect at 10 a.m. Monday.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the price cut Monday morning. It said the new prices were set after unrefined (tezabi) gold prices fell in the local market. Alongside gold, silver prices have also fallen. The adjustment was made primarily because international gold prices fell, requiring a corresponding adjustment in the domestic market.
Most recently, on Saturday, the price of one bhori of good-quality gold was cut by 7,115 taka. Before that, gold prices had risen in three rounds on August 20, 22 and 25, by a combined 10,964 taka. With today’s cut, gold prices have now fallen by a combined 11,489 taka per bhori over two rounds.
With today’s price adjustment, the price of 22-karat gold per bhori, including VAT, has fallen by 4,374 taka to 236,254 taka. The price of 21-karat gold per bhori has been cut by 4,141 taka to 225,640 taka.
The price of 18-karat gold per bhori has also fallen by 3,616 taka to 193,739 taka. And the price of traditional-method gold per bhori has fallen by 2,916 taka to 158,280 taka.
