A court has ordered the jailing of Jamshedur Rahman Fatik, expelled vice president of the district Chhatra Dal, in a kidnapping and extortion case in Dagonbhuiyan, Feni.
Fatik appeared before the court of Joint District and Sessions Judge Md Zahid Hossain on Thursday and sought bail, which the court rejected, ordering him sent to jail.
Bench assistant Shahadat Hossain Minar said Fatik is the sole accused in a kidnapping and extortion case filed at Feni Model police station against him.
He said the court had issued a warrant for Fatik after he failed to appear following his release on bail. Fatik appeared before the first Joint District and Sessions Judge’s court in Feni on Thursday morning to seek bail. After the hearing, the court rejected his bail application and ordered him jailed.
Dagonbhuiyan police station officer-in-charge (OC) Muhammad Foyzul Azim Noman said Fatik faces 11 cases on various charges, including kidnapping and extortion.
