Withdrawing from the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and revisiting the country’s nuclear policy is “entirely possible” for Iran, said Abbas Goudarzi, spokesman for the presidium of Iran’s parliament.
Speaking to Iran’s Fars news agency, he said withdrawing from the NPT and revisiting Iran’s nuclear policy was possible.
He said such a step would “show the United States and its followers where they stand.”
The remarks from the spokesman for Iran’s parliamentary leadership came as tensions continue between Iran and the United States over the country’s nuclear programme. His comments on the possibility of withdrawing from the NPT suggest those tensions could escalate further.
