A school teacher, Md Nazmul Islam, 23, has died of an electric shock while putting his mobile phone on charge in Homna, Cumilla.
The accident happened on Wednesday morning (September 23) in Manipur village of Gharmora union in the upazila.
Nazmul was a teacher at Manipur Adarsha Pre-Cadet School. He was the son of the late Nazrul Islam of Manipur village.
Relatives and local people said Nazmul was accidentally electrocuted while putting his phone on charge in his room in the morning. Family members took him to the Homna upazila health complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead after examining him.
The officer-in-charge of the police station, Thomas Barua, confirmed the death and said the body was handed to relatives without a post-mortem at the family’s request, as they had made no complaint.
