Unidentified people are alleged to have poisoned a pond in Araihazar, Narayanganj, killing fish worth 250,000 taka.
The incident happened on Tuesday night (September 22) in the Ramchandradi area of Gopaldi municipality in the upazila.
According to local sources, someone put poison in the pond belonging to Abdus Sattar in Ramchandradi, Gopaldi municipality. On Wednesday morning, puti, pangas and other species of fish were seen floating dead on the water.
The pond’s owner, Abdus Sattar, said the fish were worth an estimated 200,000 to 250,000 taka. He alleged that miscreants had poisoned the pond at night and killed the fish.
“If we receive a complaint, the matter will be investigated and legal action taken,” said Md Sobjel Hossain, the police station’s officer-in-charge.
