A total of 342 people were hospitalized with dengue in the past 24 hours nationwide. No deaths were reported during this period. In total, 34 people have died and 17,280 have been infected with dengue so far this month, through August 28.
The information was disclosed in a dengue bulletin issued Friday by the Directorate General of Health Services’ Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room.
The bulletin said that between 8 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday, dengue hospitalizations were recorded as follows: 63 in Barishal division, 93 in Chattogram, 72 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 43 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 48 in Mymensingh and 23 in Rangpur. During this period, 345 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering.
The Directorate General of Health Services said the total number of dengue cases so far this year has risen to 32,590, with 88 deaths recorded in total this year. Of those deaths, 2 occurred in January, 2 in February, 1 in May, 13 in June and 36 in July. Of all dengue patients so far, 61.9 percent are male and 38.1 percent female.
