The United States has arrested Himanshu Bhau, also known as Himanshu Ritolia, India’s most wanted gangster. His associate Neeraj Faridpuria, another notorious gangster, has also been arrested. The FBI detained the two in Las Vegas. Himanshu had been directing criminal activity inside India while living in the United States.
Neeraj Faridpuria is accused of several murders and many other crimes.
According to a report by Anandabazar Online, Himanshu is linked to a camp that rivals the gang of Lawrence Bishnoi. Interpol issued a red notice against him in 2023.
A native of Ritoli village in Haryana’s Rohtak district, Himanshu was drawn into crime as a teenager. In 2020 he escaped from a juvenile correctional home together with several other inmates. He is the main accused in at least 18 cases, including murder, attempted murder, extortion, fraud and criminal intimidation. He is on the wanted lists of the Delhi Police, the Haryana Police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Investigators say Himanshu built up a criminal network in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab while based abroad. His name has been linked at various times to the killing of industrialists and businessmen and to extorting money from them. Himanshu is linked to the gang of Neeraj Bawana, a rival of the Bishnoi gang that operates in India.
