Former US president Barack Obama has delivered unusually harsh criticism of the Trump administration while campaigning ahead of the 3 November midterm elections in the United States. Speaking at a rally in Cleveland, Ohio, he said President Donald Trump had made one wrong decision after another, and that the biggest of them was starting an unnecessary war that nobody had ever asked for.

In response to the joint US and Israeli attack, Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz, sending fuel prices on the international market sharply higher.

Trump responded angrily to Obama’s remarks. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, he wrote that Obama had been a highly incompetent president. Referring to the 2015 nuclear deal, Trump alleged that the Obama administration had appeased Iran with billions of dollars and paved its way to acquiring nuclear weapons.
