Iran cannot be brought to its knees by media pressure or military intimidation, the speaker of its parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has said. The United States is using these tactics out of a complete misreading of the situation, he said.
Today’s Iran is not the weak Iran of the past or of the Pahlavi era, Ghalibaf said. The Iran of today is an impregnable fortress of unshaken confidence, strong defences and iron resolve, where no foreign power’s intimidation will be tolerated in defence of the country’s honour.
The US administration, he said, is now caught in deep uncertainty and complications because of its own miscalculations. It is now up to the United States, Ghalibaf said plainly, to decide how to get out of this dangerous situation, this trap.
