This year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examination results will be published on 31 October.
Professor Syed Aktaruzzaman, president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, confirmed this to the daily Amar Desh on Tuesday afternoon. He said a press release on the matter was being prepared.
The results had been due on 29 October, and the coordination committee had said it would issue a press release about them on 26 October. But Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was on a visit to Japan, and because he could not be informed, the release was not issued then. The new date of 31 October was later set with the prime minister’s consent.
The 11-party alliance has a long march planned towards Dhaka, Khulna and Kushtia on 31 October, but Professor Aktaruzzaman said it would not stand in the way of publishing the results.
This year’s HSC and equivalent exams began on 2 July. The written papers were due to end on 8 August, but a natural disaster meant some of the Chattogram education board’s papers could not be held on schedule. They were held later, and that board’s written exams ended on 9 September. A total of 1,270,583 regular and irregular candidates sat the exams this year.
