Students have demanded a special supplementary exam this year for those who failed the SSC 2026 exams. They also called for students who pass the supplementary exam to be allowed to enrol in Class 11.
The demands were made at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters Unity on Thursday under the banner of ‘SSC 2026 Students’ Rights Movement Bangladesh’.
The students set out five demands at the press conference. They include holding a special supplementary exam this year, publishing the exam’s syllabus and marks distribution, holding the exam and publishing results quickly while allowing enough time to prepare, and guaranteeing admission to Class 11 in the same academic year for those who pass.
They said failing one exam does not mean a student’s future is over, so a humane and realistic decision is needed to keep their education on track.
The students said that if a special exam cannot be held this year for unavoidable reasons, those who failed should be allowed to enrol in Class 11, with arrangements for them to sit a supplementary exam the following year while studying at college.
The students said they were not asking for any advantage outside the rules, only a chance to prove themselves and to be spared the risk of falling a year behind. They called on the authorities concerned to take the necessary policy and administrative steps.
