Iran earns $1 billion from oil in 11 days despite conflict

Iran brought in more than $1 billion in oil-sale revenue over 11 days even as its conflict with the United States continued, the country’s semi-official Fars news agency has reported. The 11-day period ended Sept. 2, and the report said the funds were added to the country’s foreign exchange reserves during that time.

According to Fars’ report, based on documents reviewed by its correspondent, the addition of oil-sale foreign currency to the reserves will strengthen the central bank’s capacity to meet the country’s foreign exchange needs.

The report said revenue earned from Iran’s oil sales in the first five months of the current fiscal year has already exceeded 80% of the total oil revenue target set in the 2026-27 budget.

Iran’s 2026-27 fiscal year runs from March 21, 2026, to March 20, 2027. Various reports have said the recent conflict has put pressure on the country’s oil exports and foreign exchange earnings.
