Iran’s army chief, Amir Hatami, has claimed that Iran has emerged victorious in the war because the “enemy” failed to achieve its stated objectives.
Citing the Fars News Agency, he said the “enemy” had tried to destroy Iran’s drone and missile capabilities. However, he said, Iran’s stockpiled missiles were used against the enemy “at maximum intensity” until the final moment.
Amir Hatami said that, from a military standpoint, an attacking side is considered victorious only when it achieves its objectives. On the other hand, in a defensive war, if the attacking side fails to achieve its objectives, that is considered a victory for the defending side.
He further said that, by this measure, since the “enemy” failed to achieve its war objectives, Iran has emerged victorious.
