US commanders have warned Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth against prolonging the war against Iran. According to US media, several senior US military officials have advised Hegseth not to continue large-scale operations against Iran. The report is from Al Jazeera.
The information was disclosed citing the US newspaper the Washington Post. The report said the warning came from the chiefs of the US Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as commanders responsible for US forces in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
The warning appeared in a regularly published classified report outlining the United States’ global military deployments. Senior officials filed a formal notice stating that they disagreed with the deployment order but would carry it out.
According to the commanders, US warships, military aircraft and equipment have been withdrawn from various regions for the war against Iran. As a result, the capacity to carry out other military operations and train troops in those regions has diminished.
Meanwhile, more than 50,000 US troops have been kept on alert for months over fears that a new strike order against Iran could come at any time. At the same time, US President Donald Trump has kept up pressure on Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and accept US conditions for ending the war.
