The government has dismissed six senior police officers from service on charges of remaining absent from their posts for a long period.
The information came in separate home ministry notifications on Monday, signed by the ministry’s senior secretary Manzur Morshed Chowdhury.
The officers dismissed are former superintendent of police Arifur Rahman Mondal; additional deputy commissioner of police Rajib Das; former additional DIG Mohammad Zayedul Alam; former superintendent of police Mohammad Sanwar Hossain; former additional superintendent of police Palash Ranjan Dey; and former Dhaka superintendent of police Asaduzzaman.
According to the notifications, the officers concerned were absent from their posts for a long time without the authorities’ permission. The decision to dismiss them from service was taken after departmental cases, investigation and a second show-cause notice.
The notifications say the order takes effect immediately.
