Five people died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,484 more were hospitalised with the disease across the country in the same period. The figures were released on Thursday (September 17) in the regular dengue bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room.
Among those hospitalised with dengue in the past 24 hours, Barisal division recorded 211 cases, Chattogram division 192, Dhaka division outside the city corporations 190, Dhaka North City Corporation 207, Dhaka South City Corporation 227, Khulna division 252, Mymensingh division 64, Rajshahi division 102, Rangpur division 35 and Sylhet division four.
With the latest deaths, the dengue death toll in Bangladesh has reached 176 so far this year, the DGHS said.
