Feni District Volunteer Family has honored 60 volunteer organizations and 12 volunteers. As part of a rehabilitation programme, it also gave an auto-rickshaw to a person living in extreme poverty.
The awards were presented at a ceremony at Midtown Convention Hall in the city on Monday afternoon. Feni District Council administrator Professor M A Khalek was the chief guest.
The event was chaired by organizing committee president Ilias Hossain and conducted by volunteer-family spokesperson Osman Gani Russell. Special guests included Daily Feni Somoy editor Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, Red Crescent Society Feni unit secretary Salahuddin Mamun, Star Line Group vice-chairman Zafar Uddin, Daily Feni editor Ariful Amin Rizvi, Z U Hospital executive director Farid Uddin Pathan, sports organizer Shariful Islam Apu and volunteer Omar Uddin Prithy.
Khalek said the volunteer family worked selflessly and that the organizations were carrying out humanitarian work. He said they could do more with greater support and that the district council would try to stand beside them.
