Two more people died of dengue fever and 790 new patients were hospitalised nationwide in the past 24 hours, according to health officials.
The information was released Friday (September 11) in a bulletin from the Directorate General of Health Services’ Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room.
According to the bulletin, the two dengue deaths in the past 24 hours occurred one each in Chattogram division (outside city corporations) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area. One of the deceased was male and one female. In the same period, 790 new dengue patients were hospitalised nationwide. By division, the highest number of new admissions, 249, was in Dhaka division (outside city corporations).
Additionally, 196 new patients were admitted in Chattogram division, 73 in Mymensingh, 62 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 61 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 60 in Khulna division, 38 in Rangpur, 33 in Rajshahi and 18 in Barishal division. Among those hospitalised in the past 24 hours, 65.7 percent were male and 34.3 percent female. According to the directorate’s statistics, the total number of dengue cases in the country from January 1 to September 11 this year stands at 49,220. Of these, 141 have died and 45,645 have recovered and been released. Currently, 3,434 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Among all confirmed cases, 62.4 percent are male and 37.6 percent female, but the death rate is higher among women, at 52.1 percent.
