A boat carrying asylum seekers has sunk near the Greek island of Crete, killing one person. Twenty-five others remain missing from the incident, the country’s coast guard has said.
A coast guard spokesperson told news agency AFP on Monday that 51 people were rescued from two boats near the accident site.
He said that, according to information provided by those rescued from the sea, a total of 77 people were aboard the boat when it sank.
