The measles outbreak in Bangladesh remains at a worrying level. In the past 24 hours, 11 people died with measles symptoms and 1,270 new cases were recorded. The figures were released on Wednesday in the Directorate General of Health Services’ regular measles report.
According to the directorate, the total number of deaths from measles and measles symptoms since March 15 has risen to 1,076. Of these, 101 died of confirmed measles and 975 with measles symptoms.
The report said measles symptoms were found in 1,157 people in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected infections to 183,449. In addition, 113 people were confirmed with measles in the past 24 hours, taking the number of confirmed cases so far to 20,851.
Since March 15, 162,048 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Over the same period, 155,612 have recovered and gone home.
