Two more children have died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours. Over the same period, 1,257 children were admitted to hospital with measles or its symptoms. The information came in the Directorate General of Health Services’ updated measles report on Tuesday afternoon.
The health directorate said two more children had died with measles symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours, one in Dhaka division and one in Khulna division.
The highest numbers of suspected and confirmed measles patients in the past 24 hours were in Dhaka division, where 467 suspected and 75 confirmed measles patients were identified. Of them, 395 were admitted to hospital.
The fewest suspected and confirmed measles patients were in Rangpur division, with 15 suspected measles patients, all of whom were admitted to hospital.
That brings the total number of children who have died with measles symptoms across the country since March 15 to 964. A further 101 children have died of confirmed measles. In other words, 1,065 children have died with measles or its symptoms over that period.
In addition, 20,738 people have been infected with confirmed measles so far and 182,292 with suspected measles.
