A University of San Francisco international relations professor has described Washington’s allies in the Persian Gulf as the main casualties of the war against Iran, saying the U.S. attack on Iran is being driven by frustration rather than strategic calculation.
According to a report by Iran’s state broadcaster, IRIB, Steven Jones, a professor of international relations and head of the West Asian studies department at the University of San Francisco, told reporters in an interview that the war with Iran has damaged America’s relationships and reputation on multiple levels.
He said Washington’s Persian Gulf allies are unhappy because the United States did not consult them before launching military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Steven Jones said, “It was quite clear that these countries would be the main victims of this war.”
He also noted that, in many ways, the U.S. attacks on Iran amount to little more than a form of self-satisfaction.
Steven Jones said, “These attacks are not based on strategic calculation but are being carried out out of frustration, and they will produce no results.”
