Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian goods worth about 6.87 million taka in anti-smuggling drives on the Sylhet border.
The details were given in a press release on Thursday (September 24) signed by Lieutenant Colonel Md Nazmul Haque, commander of the Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB).
Acting on tip-offs, the Banglabazar, Pratappur, Tamabil, Sangram and Dibirhaor border outposts of the Sylhet Battalion carried out anti-smuggling drives in the border area, the release said. Indian cattle, buffaloes, mobile phone displays, lehengas, blankets, cosmetics, chocolates, cumin and juice were seized, with an estimated market value of 6,868,860 taka.
“BGB’s operations and intelligence work to protect the border and prevent smuggling and drug trafficking are continuing,” Lt Col Md Nazmul Haque said. “As part of that, a large quantity of smuggled goods was seized in drives in the border area. Necessary action will be taken on the seized goods in line with the rules.”
