Police in Lohagara, Narail, have arrested a man sentenced to life imprisonment in a rape case.
He was arrested at his home during a raid on Telkara village late on Wednesday night (September 23).
The convict is Milon Molla, 50, son of Sultan Molla of Telkara village in Kotakol union of the upazila.
According to police, acting on a tip-off, a team led by sub-inspector Tareq Hossain and assistant sub-inspector Hazrat Ali of Lohagara police station raided Telkara village late on Wednesday night, arrested him at his home and brought him to the police station.
Police said Milon Molla had been in hiding for a long time after being sentenced to life imprisonment in the rape case. A court conviction warrant had been issued against him.
Several other arrest warrants against him are also pending at Lohagara police station, according to police sources.
Lohagara police station officer-in-charge Md Shariful Islam confirmed the arrest and said Milon had been sent to court on Thursday afternoon (September 24) after legal procedures were completed.
