A motorcycle rider, Abdullah, 20, was killed and two others critically injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a battery-powered easy-bike in Natore’s Lalpur. The accident occurred around 11am on Thursday (September 17) in the Shimultala area of the Lalpur-Natore road.
The deceased, Abdullah, was the son of the late Shahidul Islam Laki of North Lalpur village in the upazila. The injured were identified as Imran, 20, son of Bazlur Rahman of the same village, and Moni, 20, son of Nazir Hossain of Balitita Islampur village.
According to local sources, Abdullah, Imran and Moni set off toward Gopalpur on a motorcycle on Thursday morning. On reaching the Shimultala area, their motorcycle collided head-on with an oncoming battery-powered easy-bike. Abdullah died on the spot, while the other two were critically injured. Following the accident, Lalpur Fire Service, with local help, rescued the injured and took them to Lalpur upazila health complex. As their condition worsened there, the doctor on duty sent them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Dr Rumaiya Haque Raka, an emergency department doctor at Lalpur upazila health complex, said Abdullah had died before reaching the hospital. She said Imran and Moni’s condition was critical, so they were sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Lalpur police station’s officer-in-charge (OC), Shafiqul Islam, confirmed the incident and said that since the deceased’s family raised no complaint, the body was handed over to them. An unnatural-death case has been filed over the incident.
