Mahespur Battalion (58 BGB) has detained four Bangladeshi nationals in separate operations along the Jibannagar border in Chuadanga, seizing Indian cannabis, medicine, and detaining them while attempting to illegally cross into India.
BGB-58 Assistant Director Munshi Imdadur Rahman disclosed the information Friday, August 28.
He said that around 5 a.m. on August 28, an anti-narcotics and anti-smuggling operation was conducted by a team led by Subedar Md Abdur Razzak of Goyeshpur BOP, under Mahespur Battalion, in a mango orchard in the Uttarpara field of Goyeshpur village, roughly 50 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 68/4-S. The operation recovered 830 grams of Indian cannabis and 4,360 pieces of Indian medicine, with no accused present. The estimated seizure value of the recovered contraband is 1.305 million taka.
Separately, around 11:30 p.m. on August 27, another special patrol team led by Havildar Md Abbas Hossain of Khosalpur BOP conducted an operation in a banana orchard in Khosalpur village, roughly 250 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 60/80-R. Four Bangladeshi nationals were detained there while attempting to illegally cross from Bangladesh into India. Those detained include one man, one woman and two third-gender individuals.
BGB-58 Assistant Director Munshi Imdadur Rahman confirmed that those detained have been handed over to Mahespur police station for further legal action.
