Prime Minister Tareque Rahman is scheduled to arrive in New York on September 21 to attend the UN General Assembly’s 81st session. To make the US visit an unqualified success, BNP acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has called on every leader and activist of US BNP and its affiliated organizations to work in unity.
Ahead of the prime minister’s arrival in the US, a joint meeting of BNP leaders and activists at all levels was held virtually local time Sunday. The meeting brought together former US BNP leaders, Canada BNP, 18 state and metropolitan committees including New York, and various affiliated organizations including US Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal and Jasas.
BNP acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi delivered the chief guest’s remarks virtually. BNP international affairs secretary Anwar Hossain Khokon served as coordinator and moderator of the joint preparatory meeting. He said Prime Minister Tareque Rahman would be coming to New York after 17 long years, and that they are making all-out preparations to make his visit a success.
Rizvi strongly urged leaders and activists to handle everything with great tolerance. He called on everyone to work in unity during Prime Minister Tareque Rahman’s New York visit. He said: “We will not turn this visit into an occasion for division or conflict, but will instead treat it as an opportunity to showcase unity, discipline, beauty and Bangladesh’s dignity on the world stage.”
Also speaking at the meeting were BNP national executive committee members Abdul Latif Samrat, Zillur Rahman Zillu, Gias Ahmed and Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan Milton; and, among former US BNP leaders, Sharafat Hossain Babu, Newaz Ahmed Joel, Anwar Hossain, Kamal Pasha Babul, Gias Uddin, Akhtar Hossain Badal, Abdus Sabur, Mosharraf Hossain Sabuj, Kazi Azam, Firoz Ahmed, Jashim Bhuiyan, Mushfiqur Rahman Khasru, A K Azad, Saleh Ahmed Manik, Shafiqur Rahman Dulal, Golam Faruk Shaheen, Duke Khan, Joglul Haider and Mukul (JU), among others.
The meeting was attended by presidents and general secretaries of BNP’s East and West Canada chapters, all US state chapters, and North and South metropolitan BNP, along with central leaders of affiliated organizations and leaders and activists at all levels, who welcomed Tareque Rahman’s upcoming visit and pledged to work in unity.
