Eleven India-backed militants have been killed in separate operations in the Kharan and Washuk districts of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. Security forces recovered 2.9 tons of explosives from the scene, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
In a statement, ISPR said 11 members of the India-backed group it calls “Fitna al-Hindustan” were killed in operations carried out on Sept. 6 and 7. In Kharan, eight were killed in a gunbattle with security forces after attempting to block a road and halt vehicle movement.
The following day, another planned operation in Washuk destroyed a militant hideout. Three more were killed there following an exchange of gunfire. During the operation, 2.9 tons of explosives intended for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered.
ISPR said search operations are continuing to confirm whether any other militants remain in the area.
