A group of robots staged a street protest demanding AI regulation and the protection of jobs, in an event organised by an initiative called “Democratism.” The protest was held recently outside Poland’s Digital Affairs Ministry in the capital, Warsaw, with the participation of about 30 robots.
The protest featured the AI-powered humanoid robot AgiBot A3 and various robot dogs, or quadrupeds. During the demonstration, the robots were seen walking in a circle and carrying placards and flags reading “Protect jobs,” “It’s time to regulate,” and “Don’t wait, regulate.”
Fears of job losses due to robots and AI systems are growing by the day. The protest highlighted the possibility of humans being replaced in intellectual work by humanoid robots and artificial intelligence. Without appropriate action taken now, the organisers said, the situation will soon reach a point where it is too late.
