Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that if Iran attacks Israel, his country would strike Iran’s energy and civilian infrastructure. The report is from Al Jazeera.
Speaking Thursday, Katz said that if Israel is attacked by Iran, Israel would be freed from any existing restraints on striking Iran.
He added: “We will paralyze all of Iran’s national military and civilian infrastructure — including its energy infrastructure — and send Iran back to the Stone Age and into deep darkness.”
Israel launched a joint air campaign against Iran alongside the United States in February, but it was not involved in the most recent round of fighting.
Katz’s threat has further heightened tensions in the Middle East. Global crude oil prices also climbed Thursday to a six-week high. The previous day had seen a significant fall in world stock markets.
