U.S. President Donald Trump has called individuals and media outlets questioning the United States’ arms supplies “traitors,” making the accusation while defending the country’s ongoing war with Iran. The report was carried by Turkey’s Anadolu Agency.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: “The people and media who keep saying we’re running out of weapons… they are basically traitors.”
Trump alleged that critics do not want to see his success, but rather his defeat in the war — even though he has repeatedly said his country would win the war easily.
In another post, Trump insisted the United States has an inexhaustible stockpile of weapons and ammunition. He said the U.S. would still have sufficient medium- and high-powered weapons even after their use in the ongoing military operation or any other potential conflict. He said the U.S. is now manufacturing weapons at a scale never seen before.
“We are preparing for any emergency and stockpiling weapons,” Trump said.
The U.S. president also said the country is currently withholding arms sales to other nations, reserving them for its own military, but that it would soon resume selling weapons to allies.
Trump also criticized the administration of former President Joe Biden. Referring to U.S. military assistance to Ukraine, he claimed the Biden administration had given Ukraine more weapons free of charge than the U.S. has used in the Iran war.
“Ukraine and NATO were given hundreds of billions of dollars, which Europe was supposed to pay back,” Trump said, without providing evidence for the claim. He said his administration would seek repayment of that assistance from European countries, even if belatedly.
Trump’s comments came amid widespread debate over U.S. military capacity and the extensive use of weapons and ammunition in the Iran operation. He has repeatedly dismissed reports suggesting U.S. forces lack sufficient weapons.
