The Israeli military is grappling with a budget crisis, disrupting various operations, according to Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir. The news was reported by the Anadolu news agency. He made the comment in a statement assessing the multi-front war.
He said: “Unfortunately, we are currently facing a challenge on the budget front for the Israel Defense Forces. Even as the IDF and its personnel are conducting operations on every front, we are dealing with this funding shortfall. This is hurting the IDF’s readiness.”
The disclosure comes amid a dispute between Israel’s defense and finance ministries over additional military funding. Israeli media reported this month that the military is facing a budget shortfall of roughly 40 billion shekels ($12.3 billion). The dispute is affecting the military’s procurement programs.
